(BaseballStL) -- CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports the Cardinals are "likely" to sign pitcher Brian Fuentes.  The left-handed reliever was released by the Athletics on July 11th after compiling a 6.84 ERA in 25 innings pitched this season.

The Cardinals have had interest in the 36-year old Fuentes before.  They also have had struggles from the left side of the bullpen this year anyway.  Mark Rzepczynski has a 5.52 ERA in just over 29 innings and they've had a revolving door for their 2nd lefty.  Though Barret Browning has pitched very well in a few appearances thus far.
