(BaseballStL) -- Saturday’s game, originally scheduled for 6:15 p.m., has been moved to 3:15 p.m. CT with inclement weather in the forecast for Saturday night.

Fans who purchased tickets to Saturday’s game will be mailed a voucher good for a complimentary ticket to a game during the 2014 season, regardless of whether they attend Saturday's game.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our fans, but believe this is the best alternative given what we know now,” Cardinals President Bill DeWitt III issued in a statement. “We hope that by making this announcement tonight that we give our fans enough notice to adjust their schedules to attend this important game.”

The Cardinals and Cubs opted to move the game ahead with hopes to minimize the potential for any delay or rescheduling, especially considering potential playoff implications.
