ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- It wasn’t statistically his worst performance in 2012, but it definitely wasn’t what the Rams needed from Sam Bradford on Sunday.
Bradford completed 23 of 44 pass attempts for 170 yards in a 27-13 loss at home to the Jets. He missed several open receivers and made a terrible throw which was picked off in the second quarter. It was enough for fans to begin to grumble about Bradford not being who we thought he would be at this stage of his career.
“Obviously, last week, you would like to have a few more (completions), but the previous couple weeks, I feel like I have played at a level that is competitive and will allow us to win,” Bradford said. “Obviously, you want to get better. I try to get better each week and hopefully, that is what I’ll keep doing.”
It can also be easy for fans to forget that he has had three different offensive coordinators in his first three seasons as a professional. It has been a carousel at Rams Park for years, but hopefully the team will have this staff for years to come to build around Bradford.
“We’re a young team, we’re a young offense. We’ve experienced some growing pains this year, but I think, overall, we’ve improved as the year has gone on and that is all you can ask for. We’re going to keep improving and keep getting better,” Bradford added.
Bradford will be facing a tough defense with the Cardinals this week. The team forced six turnovers in its last game.
“He has a good feel for what we’re doing,” Jeff Fisher said of Bradford. “The position is hard to play sometimes. You match up against some good defenses and obviously he has got a huge challenge this week against their defense considering what their defense did to Matt Ryan last week.”
