(HockeyStL) – It appears the Blues are opting for Redden over White when it comes to veteran defensemen.
The Blues announced a one-year $800,000 with Wade Redden, 35. The 6-foot-2, 205 pound veteran played 11 seasons with Ottawa and two seasons with the New York Rangers. He has spent the past two seasons with the AHL’s Connecticut Whales.
On the Blues website team VP and GM Doug Armstrong is quoted as saying, “Wade is a solid two-way defenseman.”
“We believe his experience will complement and add stability to our defensive core,” said Armstrong.
The announcement came just a short time before the Blues announced that veteran defenseman Colin White was being released from his tryout.
Redden is expected in town on Sunday for a physical.
