(HockeyStL) -- The St. Louis Blues have officially activated Wade Redden, who was signed January 18.
Redden signed a one-year, $800,000 prorated contract to join the Blues after playing the last two seasons with the New York Rangers’ AHL affiliate Connecticut Whale.
The 35-year old defenseman was an All-Star in 2002 and has 450 points (106 goals, 344 assists) in 994 career games. He is expected to play Thursday night at home against the Predators.
To make room for Redden, the Blues assigned defenseman Ian Cole to the AHL affiliate Peoria Rivermen.
Cole posted an assist and two penalty minutes in three games played this season. He posted three goals and 11 assists in 34 games with Peoria before the start of this season.
Cole is expected to rejoin the Blues once Jeff Woywitka clears or gets claimed on waivers.
