(KMOV) – When the Blues’ Wade Redden takes the ice Thursday night against the Detroit Red Wings, it will be his 1,000th game as a player in the NHL. That’s something that just a year ago might have been tough to foresee.
Redden was released by the New York Rangers in 2010, and spent two seasons in the AHL.
When the Blues signed him earlier this season for a veteran presence, it gave Redden the chance to accomplish a milestone that only 10 other Blues players have done in history.
Redden’s top season came in 2003-2004, when he scored 17 goals and had 26 assists for the Ottawa Senators.
This year, besides offering veteran leadership, Redden has been decently productive, scoring two goals (including one seen here) in just five games.
