HOUSTON (BaseballStL) – The series finale of the Cardinals-Astros series was bittersweet for two reasons: it was the final home game for the Astros before the team departs for the American League next season and it was also the final game called for the ‘Voice of the Astros,’ Milo Hamilton.
Hamilton was first heard on the radio 67 years ago and he has spent the past 28 years calling Astros games after previously making stops in Chicago, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.
The 85-year-old broadcaster has called primarily home games for Houston for the past seven seasons.
According to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart, Hamilton plans to broadcast next season’s series against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. It would mark the 60th different ballpark that he has called a game.
