(KMOV.com) – Some businesses owners are asking if the National Guard will take on expanded role in Ferguson after several days of looting.
Gov. Jay Nixon signed an executive order to bring the National Guard to Ferguson, but said they would play a limited and supporting role in restoring peace and order. The Guard has been tasked with protecting the police command center, but law enforcement will still be used for crowd control.
Many businesses such as the Dellwood Market and others were looted Sunday night. In light of what took place, some business owners told News 4 they want to see the Guard take an expanded role in protecting businesses and property.
News 4 asked officials what it would take for the National Guard to play a larger role, but officials did not answer the question.
