ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Residents have been expressing their disappointment with the recent riots and looting that have spilled outside of Ferguson in the aftermath shooting death of Michael Brown.

Residents were appalled when they were shown videos of robberies that took place across the area in the past days. Crimes of opportunities took place in south St. Louis, Brentwood, and University City.

Eddie Taylor is a resident of the same apartment complex where Michael Brown’s family lives. Taylor calls these cases self-serving and destructive.

“To think your own people are acting that way. They’re destroying jobs. Only black people worked in those stores. Now they don’t have jobs,” said Taylor.

“I’m embarrassed. As a black woman, my people are just tearing this city up. We’re not going to have anything,” said one resident.

Residents are saddened that this violence has lasted several many days.

“If they had anything to do with Mike Brown, they would be with the family,” said Sharon McMorris. “This has nothing to do with Michael. Nothing whatsoever.”
