With the year half over, St. Louis commuters can take heart: The Interstate 64 project is not only on schedule but could wrap up before the projected end-of-the-year deadline.
The Missouri Department of Transportation closed a four-mile stretch of roadway last winter between Interstate 170 and Kingshighway. Last year, another four-mile stretch just to the west was closed as part of the project to improve the region's busiest roadway.
Dan Galvin of Gateway Constructors says the project should wrap up early, weather permitting.
For now, crews are paving the stretch between Kingshighway and Clayton at Skinker. Next week, they'll pave the Hanley Road overpass, then Oakland Avenue.
