Man charged for threatening Missouri buildings

06/30/2009

Associated Press

A 23-year-old man faces charges and possible deportation for allegedly threatening to blow up the police station and a federal courthouse in Cape Girardeau.

The suspect, 23-year-old Pedro Quino-Teodoro (KEE'-no-TEE'-oh-dore-oh), is charged with two counts of making a terrorist threat and one count of attempted obstruction of a governmental function.

The incident began Saturday during an assault investigation. Police say Quino-Teodoro threatened to kill an officer and his family if immigration authorities were contacted.

Immigration officials confirmed Quino-Teodoro's illegal status. He was arrested, then allegedly said he would destroy the courthouse and police headquarters.

He is jailed on $100,000 cash-only bond.
