A year ago, hundreds of volunteers helped save the tiny Missouri town of Clarksville from the flooding Mississippi River.

As the anniversary of the flood arrives, the town is saying thanks.

A "Thank You Party" will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 27 at Riverfront Park in downtown Clarksville.

Organizer Erin Garrison says there was no time for celebration last year after the successful effort to build a 12-foot-high sandbag levee along Front Street that protected downtown from the surging river.

The river level at Clarksville reached 36.7 feet on June 24, 2008, the third-worst flood in Clarksville history.
