A 2-year-old boy has died after a farming accident in northeast Missouri.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that Ervin D. Hochstetler was hurt in the accident around 12:50 p.m. Thursday on a farm northwest of Canton.

Ervin was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the death was an accident and no foul play is suspected.
