Two Kansas City-area brothers are charged with contempt of court and assault after a courtroom attack of a man accused in the beating death of their 3-year-old cousin.
Cass County prosecutor Teresa Hensley filed charges Tuesday against 17-year-old Matthew McClain and 20-year-old Aaron McClain, both of Independence.
They are accused of attacking 29-year-old Javier Barker, of Pleasant Hill, in front of the judge's bench Monday.
Court documents say the two men attacked Barker from behind and pushed him to the floor. Aaron McClain is also accused with head butting a law enforcement officer, who was trying to arrest him.
Barker is charged in the December death of his live-in girlfriend's son, Dillon Bahorski.
During a hearing Monday, Judge Jacqueline Cook entered not guilty pleas on behalf of Barker.
