A woman has died after rushing into her burning eastern Missouri home to save her pets.
St. Louis broadcaster KTVI-TV is reporting that Marianne Allison died Friday in the fire in Clarksville.
Allison and her husband escaped from their home after flames broke out around 6 a.m. Friday. But KTVI reports that Allison returned for her six cats, five dogs, three birds and a fox. She never made it back out of her house, and only one dog escaped.
Friends said she loved animals.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
A dispatcher in Pike County said she did not have any information about the blaze.
