Kansas' leading receiver, Dexton Fields, is coming off the injury list just in time for Saturday's Big 12 opener at Iowa State.
The 16th-ranked Jayhawks also hope to get defensive back Kendrick Harper back for that game.
Both have participated in practices since Kansas' last game, a 38-14 victory over Sam Houston State on Sept. 20.
Fields hurt his foot in the first quarter of the first game this year and was still wearing a protective boot before practice Tuesday. He caught passes for 834 yards last year, capped by seven receptions for 101 yards in the Orange Bowl victory over Virginia Tech.
Harper, a senior cornerback, was taken off the field on a stretcher with an apparent neck or head injury in the Jayhawks' second game, against Louisiana Tech. Kansas has not revealed the extent of the injury.
