The Springfield City Council introduced Greg Burris as the new city manager Tuesday.
Burris will start the job on Sept. 15. He is currently the vice president of administrative and information services at Missouri State University.
He was one of three finalists to participate in extensive interviews with the council last week. The council approved Burris' appointment during a closed meeting on Tuesday with an 8-1 vote.
Burris, who will make $195,000 a year, replaces Bob Cumley, who retired in May with 35 years of city service.
