St. Louis, MO (KMOV) - Sauce magazine's Catherine Neville shows us how a new restaurant is putting some unpredictable twists on American food.

The building that once housed one of St. Louis' most beloved restaurants has been given a new lease on life thanks to Revival.

This new restaurant specializes in southern cooking, drawing on chef and co- owner Cary McDowell's culinary roots.

Some favorite dishes at Revival include the crispy fried okra or creative flatbreads with toppings like pulled pork smothered in cumberland barbecue sauce to crispy highly seasoned salt and pepper chicken thighs.

Just because the food is American and Southern doesn't mean it's predictable.

Entrees at Revival include some creative twists like the braised rabbit with ricotta stuffed ravioli and spinach.

Desserts are sure to satisfy with the bourbon balls, the beignets or go deep and have the chess pie.
