(KMOV) - You can tell the popularity of Latin restaurants as they are popping up throughout the St. Louis area, but there are not many that have the experience of three decades behind them.

In south city, La Tropicana Market has been serving up authentic Mexican and Cuban food for 30 years. Co-owner Luis Trabanco says that the recipes come straight from his family's kitchen.

When you eat at La Tropicana, you're eating home cooking.

The dishes at La Tropicana reflect the cooking traditions and ingredients found in northern Mexico and Cuba.

In the kitchen, Delia Garcia cooks deeply flavored Hispanic cuisine with authentic ingredients.

La Tropicana is famous for its tamales, but don't miss the Ropa Vieja, a Cuban beef studded with a rich onion, peppers and tomato gravy.

Another must try is the Chiles Rellenos, and you can wash it all down with horchata, a rice milk that is made on site.
