(KMOV) – Two ‘persons of interest’ are in custody in connection to a shootout that happened at a Cahokia convenience store Wednesday night.

Police say a group of people in five different vehicles took part in a gun battle through St. Clair County; they are still looking for a handful of people who may know more about the crime. Officials have taken two men, Demond Eckford and Marco Orr, into custody as ‘persons of interest.’ Two other men, Anthony Garner and Terrion Willis are wanted for questioning.

The shooting began in the parking lot of a convenience store on Camp Jackson Road, and witnesses told police that several people were shooting at one another before taking the fight into the streets.

Eventually, two gunshot victims showed up at Touchette Regional Hospital. One of the victims was shot in the shoulder, and he drove himself to the hospital. That victim is now in jail, and so is his passenger.

Another victim was dumped in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the head. The driver of that car left the scene.

Through surveillance video and witness statements, police are looking for four more people.

Police say one woman’s car was shot up and a bullet went through a home on Camp Jackson, and that it’s a miracle no innocent bystanders were hurt.

Authorities say they’re looking for a black 1994 Firebird with a temporary license plate number of 689-M-735.
