GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Granite City High School was on lockdown Monday morning following a threat issued over the weekend.
Around 11 a.m., school officials were notified of an incident that happened over the weekend that could have spilled over into the school. School representatives said the tip was reported to the school by a parent.
Police were notified of the situation after the student involved in the threat did not show up to school on Monday. School officials are not sharing details about what happened over the weekend to cause the lockdown.
School officials said all students are safe and the school is secure. The lockdown has expired and the school is operating as usual.
An email and phone message was sent to parents saying they are welcome to come pick up their child at any of the Granite City schools if they want.
Police continue to investigate the threat.
