Thousands without power after storms rip through metro area

(KMOV.com) – A strong storm left thousands without power and damage throughout the St. Louis metro area on Sunday afternoon.

News 4 crews came across two collapsed buildings near 14th and Sullivan and 20th and Martin Luther King Drive in addition to light poles down near 7th and Market in downtown St. Louis. There were also reports of multiple vehicles being turned over including a tractor-trailer in Fayetteville, Illinois as a result of the storm.

Ameren Missouri reported more than 37,000 outages Sunday afternoon, mostly in the St. Louis area.

In addition, MetroLink trains were delayed, but were back on schedule by 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Normal service will resume on Monday.
