BRIDGETON, Mo. (KMOV) – Over the last few days, News 4 viewers and Bridgeton residents have contacted the newsroom complaining about a foul odor allegedly coming from a landfill located along St. Charles Rock Road.
An assistant chief with the Pattonville Fire Department told News 4 that the problem has been going on for the past few months. Some residents complained that the smell is "worse than normal."
Tests have been conducted to check underground temperature levels to see if anything poses a safety hazard. The results of those tests have not been disclosed.
On Monday, KMOV posted a question on the KMOV.com Facebook page asking viewers if they had noticed the smell. Several viewers responded saying they have also noticed it as well.
News 4’s Ray Preston is working to get in touch with the company that owns the suspected landfill and will be speaking with the fire department about possible dangers. Tune in to News 4 at 6 p.m. for Ray’s report.
