(KMOV) -- One Metro East school district has made drastic cuts after state legislators vote to keep funding at the same level as previous year.

Cahokia School District's Board of Education voted to close two of its schools in an effort to make ends meet after the Illinois state proposed budget for funding stayed at the same level as 2012.

The board voted to close Jerome Early Childhood Center and Estelle Sauget Freshman Academy although no programs will be cut.

News 4’s Sharon Reed talked with school officials on the new cuts and how this will affect class size for the incoming school year.
