ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A 26-year-old man has been charged with killing a man during a robbery.

Lewis Grover was charged Thursday with the murder of 63-year-old Willie Perkins a week ago in a double shooting on Jefferson in north St. Louis.

The shooting happened in the 2900 block of Jefferson just after 9:00 p.m. on October 13.

According to police the deceased victim of this shooting and another man were standing outside a car talking to a person inside the vehicle.

As the three men were talking, two unknown suspects walked up to the car armed with rifles and demanded money.

One of the armed suspects fired a shot into the car, shattering the rear window and grazing the man inside the vehicle of the car.

The same suspect who fired the first shot then stuck his gun into the vehicle, through the shattered glass, when the man inside the car grabbed the gun and pulled the weapon inside the car.

At this time the shooter and the two men who were initially standing outside the vehicle fled the scene on foot.

Shortly after, one of the suspects chased down the victim, robbed him and then shot him once in the head.

Following the shooting, the victim inside the vehicle drove to Central Patrol located at Martin Luther King and Jefferson to report the shooting.

The second victim is a 64-year-old man who was treated and released from the hospital. He suffered a laceration to his abdomen.
