(KMOV.com) – Police say 19-year-old driver was shot in the head after leaving a party in downtown St. Louis early Monday morning.

Police say the victim and another man were stopped at a red light near the intersection of 10th and Convention around 1:30 a.m. when they heard gun shots.

The teen then saw a man in the back seat of a nearby vehicle firing three shots out of the window. One of the bullets struck the man in the head.

The victim drove to 10th and Market and called police. He was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

The teen told police four people were inside the suspects’ vehicle. He said the shooter had a low haircut and was wearing glasses and an orange hooded sweatshirt.

Authorities say the victims had just left a party at the Ramada Inn when the shooting occurred.

The investigation is ongoing.
