(KMOV.com) – Authorities say a man is in critical condition after being shot, then crashing his vehicle in north St. Louis on Friday.
Homicide detectives were called to a report of shooting on 20th and Prairie around 8 a.m. Upon arrival, they learned a victim of the shooting crashed his car into a light pole a few blocks away, at 20th and East Gano.
Officers found the 40-year-old male victim still in his vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his right shoulder, front and back side, left bicep and under his chin. The vehicle was riddled with bullet holes along the passenger side.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
The shooting happened about two blocks away from North City Elementary School, but officials say the campus was never in danger.
Homicide detectives were later called to the scene to investigate further.
