(KMOV.com) -- Police say a man was assaulted after he tried to enter a home late Friday night. 

The 40-year-old victim went to an apartment in the 4900 block of Maple where he reportedly had made prior plans to stay the night.

Authorities say the suspect, a 35 to 40-year-old man, answered the door and denied the victim entry. An agrument ensued and the suspect allegedly attacked the man with a branch.

The suspect then attacked the victim with what he believed to be a knife, according to police.

The suspect went back into the house and the victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators report no arrest have been made in the case. The suspect was described as a 5'7-5'9 man, and weighing around 160-170 pounds.

Police say an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
