(KMOV) – A 26-year-old Park Hills man is accused of stabbing his mother’s 49-year-old boyfriend to death on Sunday.
Justin Kozik was charged Monday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to court documents, police were called about a disturbance at a home in the 900 block of Tyler St. around 8:55 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they heard a man yelling for help. They tried to enter, but the man inside told them to go to the back door.
That’s when they were met by Kozik, who told them his mother’s boyfriend, Steven Wells, had been stabbed and was inside the house.
Officers went inside and found Wells lying by the front door. An autopsy later determined he had been stabbed over a dozen times.
Police did not say what led to the stabbing.
Kozik remains in custody without bond.
