JENNINGS, Mo (KMOV.com) – Police have charged a man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend death in a Jennings apartment Tuesday night.
Calvin Campbell, 32, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to reports, Sophie Moore, 28, kicked Campbell out of her house in the 9400 block of Dawn Court last week.
Police said around 10 p.m. Tuesday, Campbell beat on Moore’s door before breaking into her home. That’s when he began punching Moore several times, police said.
Authorities said as Moore attempted to escape the house through the back kitchen window, Campbell stabbed her multiple times with a knife.
Moore’s two sons, 8 and 9 years old, were in the home at the time of the attack. They were able to flee the home to a neighbor’s, where they called for help.
Upon arrival, police found Moore suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The murder weapon was also recovered.
Campbell fled the scene but went to the Jennings police around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and confessed to the stabbing.
He is currently being held in the St. Louis County jail on no bond.
