(KMOV) -- Anheuser-Busch announced Friday that the Budweiser sign renovation process is now finished, and the brewery will be flipping the switch and unveiling the new sign during a ceremony on Wednesday.
Following a nearly month-long renovation process, Anheuser-Busch will unveil the new, illuminated Budweiser sign that sits atop the Bevo building on the company’s St. Louis brewery grounds.
Anheuser-Busch employees will hold a private event and toast the lighting of the new Budweiser sign at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
The new sign retains the classic red lettering and bold typeface of the orginial, but now use LED technology allowing it to shine brighter and better withstand the elements.
The new sign is 60 percent more energy efficient than the previous one, which was created in the late 1970s.
A custom neon sign has been on top of the Bevo building for more than six decades.
The total project investment exceeded $500,000.
