Granite City man charged with attempted burglary

(KMOV.com) – A Granite City man was charged with a felony in Madison County Circuit Court regarding an attempted residential burglary.

Justin R. Anderson, 22, was charged today with a felony charge of attempted residential burglary. 

On Sunday, March 24, 2013, at approximately 4:32 a.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 200 block of Lenox Avenue, Granite City, Illinois, in reference to a burglary in progress. 

The victim reported Anderson attempted to enter her residence, by busting a window out of the rear door.

Before Anderson was able to enter the home, the victim confronted him and told him to leave.  The subject then responded to the victim’s vehicle, and busted out one of the vehicle’s windows.

The responding deputies located the suspect near the victim’s vehicle. Anderson was taken into custody and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and had a small cut to his left hand.

Anderson was transported to the Madison County Jail where he was held and charged with misdemeanor offenses of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Criminal Trespassing to Property, Criminal Damage to Property, and Disorderly Conduct, as it relates to this incident.

Bond was set at $75,000.00
