(KMOV.com) -- After three days of working to restore power to communities affected by Wednesday night's storms, Ameren Missouri deactivated its emergency operations center on Saturday.

About 43,000 customers were without power at the peak of the outage, according to a statement.

"Ameren Missouri appreciates its customers’ patience and understanding during the past couple of days," wrote Michael Moehn, senior vice president of customer operations.

Ameren reports the majority of outages resulted from high winds during Wednesday night’s storms and tornadoes.

More than 1,000 Ameren workers, including vegetation management employees and field checkers, were deployed to assist with power restoration efforts. Crews from Illinois also assisted with restoration to the hardest hit areas.
