ST. LOUIS — Authorities say two murder suspects and a third man who escaped from a Butler County Jail are back in custody, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The escape happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday at the Butler County Jail in Poplar Bluff. Authorities say Matthew Brandon Cook, Kade Reaves Stringfellow and Rodney Joe Green escaped through the ceiling.

Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper Clark Parrott says the three men were caught Tuesday afternoon while authorities were checking a salvage yard where one of the suspects used to work.

The men had walked about five miles to get to the salvage yard after escaping. Jail employees discovered the inmates were missing a short time later.

Parrott says the men are being interviewed. He didn’t have any information about new charges.

Cook was already charged with first-degree murder in the February shooting death of a man at a McDonald’s parking lot in Advance, Mo. Stringfellow, of Portageville, Mo., was charged with second-degree murder in the death of his infant son. Green faces several charges for robbing and shooting a rural Butler County couple during a home invasion in February. The couple survived.
