ST. LOUIS, MO — Each year more than 90,000 students in the St. Louis area lack the basic school supplies like pencils, paper and crayons that they need due to lack of financial resources. For the second year, Six Flags St. Louis is teaming up with KidSmart to assist them in their efforts to equip these students for the upcoming school year. August 8 -11 any guests who bring 5 or more school supplies to Six Flags St. Louis’ front gate will receive a one-day general admission ticket for $24.99. Guests can enjoy a great Back-to-School value while helping thousands of students with their Back-to-School supplies.
Six Flags’ guests are asked to bring 5 school supplies from the KidSmart top 5 “most needed items” list which includes pencils, markers, crayons, glue and paper. Items must be new and in their original package. Donations from individuals and businesses help keep the shelves of Kid Smart’s Free Store stocked. KidSmart distributes the supplies through teachers who shop at the KidSmart Free Store once a month. After shopping, teachers distribute the materials directly into the hands of the kids in need.
Since opening in 2002, KidSmart has distributed more than $20 million in free school supplies to St. Louis, St. Louis County and rural area students in need. KidSmart helps these children succeed in school by providing free school supplies through KidSmart’s Free Store. Schools where 72 percent or more of the children are on the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program, a national poverty index, qualify to shop at KidSmart. The value of supplies distributed last year totaled just over $3 million which benefited 45,000 children.
A Six Flags St. Louis Season Pass offers guests unlimited visits throughout the season and includes free admission to Hurricane Harbor, concert passes, free and discounted friend coupons, Fright Fest and more. A 2011 Season Pass can be purchased at Six Flags St. Louis main gate or online at sixflags.com.
