JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- More than 60,000 cell phone numbers were added to Missouri's "no-call" list on Thursday, the first day the expanded registry was available.

According to a release from Attorney General Chris Koster, an expanded law enables Missourians to register and avoid receiving unwanted telemarketing calls and text messages on their cell phones.

Koster said the law covers phones for personal and family use, but not cell phones used primarily for business.

The registry is updated quarterly, meaning numbers added by July 31 will be covered October 1.

More than 1.8 million Missouri households are already registered on the "no-call" list for residential phones, according to the release.

Missourians can register on online at http://ago.mo.gov/ or by phone at 866-662-2551.
