(KMOV)-- Hair salons are helping clean up the oil spill. Apparently, pantyhose filled with hair acts like a sponge to suck up the oil.
Its called a hair boom. Salons from all over the country are donating the clippings that fall on the floor and would have other-wise been put in the trash.
Stylists say any kind of hair will do the trick. It does not need to be human hair. Dog hair works as well.
