Mark Schnyder
News 4 Reporter
Mark joined the News 4 news team in August 2008. After reporting on News 4 This Morning his first three months, he moved to reporting on the 5, 6 and 10 and in January 2010, back to mornings on Awake with News Four.
The news director asked Mark to work on Awake for five months but when the time came for him to go back to nights, Mark said he was enjoying the shift so much he'd like to stay on it. He got to.
Mark enjoys coming to work and within two hours being on the air with new information that happened over night or important things our viewers should know that's expected to happen later that day. He also enjoys the work day ending at noon (usually)!
Mark's been a TV journalist since 1992. He's reported and anchored at TV stations in Texas , Tennessee , Kentucky and now Missouri . He love this career because every day is different and it forces you to keep up with what's going on around town and around the world.
Mark received two Emmy nominations during his 18 months working at WAVE-TV in Louisville. Once in St. Louis he finally won an Emmy in 2010 for a compilation of his work as a reporter at KMOV.
Mark grew up in Houston and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He's a huge Astros fan but has a lot of respect for the great baseball fans in St. Louis and appreciate the rivalry.
Mark has run one marathon. He did that along with his wife Teresa in her hometown of Dallas in 2004. He's also run a couple of half-marathons but has yet to compete in the St. Louis one. The pair also loves to go on cruises. They got addicted after going on one on their honeymoon in 2000.
Mark and Teresa have a beagle named Archie and a mutt Mark found under a parked car in March 2009. After not being able to find the owner they adopted him. They named him JD. For fun Mark got a DNA kit and found out he's part chow chow, chihuahua, labrador, collie and Norweigen elk hound. Wow.
