Katie Horner

Meteorologist

Katie joined News 4 as a 4 Warn Meteorologist in January 2013.

She is the 4 Warn Meteorologist alongside Robin Smith on News 4 at Noon, and is part of the markets only all female newscast on News 4 at 5pm with Sharon Reed  and Jasmine Huda.

Katie spent her younger days in Bellevue, NE. It was there she experienced her first tornadoes, and developed her passion for the weather.

She’s been forecasting the weather since 1989, where she began her career in Pensacola, FL. In 1994, Katie moved to Kansas City and joined KCTV 5, where she spent 18 years.

Katie appreciates teaching children about the weather, and has even written a book titled, “Brainstorming… A Creative Guide to Help Parents and Children through Severe Weather.”  Katie has been actively involved in breast cancer awareness through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

In addition to the Race for the Cure, you could find Katie emceeing or competing in countless 5ks, 10ks, and even a triathlon. She also enjoys skiing, snorkeling, trail jogging and road cycling. Katie is looking forward to hooking up with some of the St. Louis bike groups and exploring the back roads.

Katie’s parent’s have lived in St. Louis for over 25 years and are very active in the community. She is thrilled to be living close to them again and looks forward to making St. Louis her home.
