(KMOV.com) – A new study shows most workers spend a lot of their time at work doing what is called “Cyberloafing.”
Two professors found the average worker spends 60 to 80 percent of their time at the office on the internet, doing things not related to their jobs. Those types of employees are known as “cyberloafers.”
An associated professor from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale found that company policies are not stopping workers from wasting time online. The study determined that “older” workers are checking their finances and “younger” workers are on social media.
The researchers say one major challenge is to make young employees believe social networking at the office is an unacceptable behavior and even current policies in place do not change the attitudes and behaviors even if the workers know they are being monitored.
