(AP) -- There's no shortage of awesome smart phones for the holidays. Apple adds a taller, 4-inch screen to the iPhone 5. Samsung becomes the maker of some of the best Android phones with the Galaxy S III. And Nokia tries to stay in the game by embracing Windows Phone 8 with the Lumia 920. Also, the wireless companies' expansion of their 4G networks makes Web surfing and downloads amazingly fast. And no, analysts say you shouldn't wait for the new BlackBerry 10 operating system.

Apple enters the smaller-tablet market with the iPad Mini. But its 7.9-inch screen is still bigger than the 7 inches you get with Google's Nexus 7 or Amazon's Kindle Fire. And the Apple tablet is priced significantly higher than the other two.

Nintendo's Wii U gaming console -- its first major upgrade in years -- offers a touch-screen controller that gives you new ways to play.

But the coolest innovation of 2012 has got to be the Lytro Light-Field Camera. It looks like a rectangular kaleidoscope and lets you refocus a shot AFTER making a picture. It's expensive at $400, but impressive.
