Power in Alton, Highland area restored

HIGHLAND, IL (KMOV.com staff) – Two downed power lines between Collinsville and Highland, IL on Highway 40 left more than 4000 people without power Saturday afternoon.

The City of Highland is in charge of its own utilities and sent out an alert saying a cooling center has been set up in the Weinheimer Building, located at 1100 Main Street.

The cause of the downed power line is unknown. Power has been restored to Highland as of 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Power in Alton has also been restored. 

Anyone in need of assistance is asked to call the police department at 654-2131.
