(KMOV) – Police hope surveillance photos will help catch two suspects who stole money from an elderly woman outside a Walmart in St. Charles in late June.

Authorities said an 83-year-old woman was shopping at the Walmart in the 2800 block of Veteran’s Memorial Pkwy. around 6:30 p.m. on June 28 when she was approached by a man and woman.

Police said the woman told the victim she would help her shop and told the man to go back to the car and listen to music.

The woman helped the victim pick out some items and they went to the checkout lanes and paid.

Police said the suspect then helped load groceries into the woman’s car. The woman told police she leaned into her backseat to grab a can of beans and when she turned around the suspect was gone.

That’s when the victim noticed her wallet was missing. Police said it contained several hundred dollars, the victim’s driver’s license and personal papers.

Police said surveillance cameras caught the whole act on video.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked call St. Charles police at (636) 949-3344.
