(KMOV.com) – St. Charles police have charged a motorcyclist with resisting arrest and unlawful possession of a concealed weapon after officers say he fled police and reached for a gun when confronted.

On August 29, St. Charles officer pulled over a car that had been following a motorcycle at a high rate of speed. During the traffic stop, the female driver told the officer the man on the motorcycle, Adrian Gandara, told  her he had a firearm and that he planned to kill someone.

She also told the officer Gandara was extremely intoxicated. During the traffic stop, court documents state Gandara sped back toward the driver’s car, nearly hitting it.

The officer pursued Gandara and attempted to stop him. Gandara disgregarded any commands and drove into Blanchette Park before stopping in front of the Boys and Girls Club.

When told to get off the motorcycle, he reportedly reached for his inside vest pocket. The officer drew his gun and ordered Gandara to put his hands up. He eventually complied and was arrested.

After searching his clothes, a loaded handgun was found in his inner vest pocket.
