(KMOV.com) – Dardenne Prairie officials said someone is spreading incorrect information about the city on Facebook.

Officials told News 4 someone anonymously created a watchdog Facebook page entitled “Preserve Dardenne Prairie.” Dardenne Prairie Mayor Pam Fogarty has described the comments on the page as “ugly and mean.” Fogarty said those commenting on page are misinformed about important issues in the city. Fogarty added the city is not being allowed to set the record straight.

“People here at city hall have tried to go on the website and correct those but they are deleted right away,” Fogarty said.

Fogarty said she had no way to refute the allegations that a speed limit change in front of city hall was meant to be a speed trap.

Fogarty said a city staff member received an email stating the site was not fir elected officials or anyone who worked for the city. However, whoever is behind the Facebook page said comments by Fogarty have never been deleted.

Whoever created the page said it was meant to be a place of information and transparency where citizens could voice their opinions and concerns.
