(KMOV.com) - Theresa Gonner told News 4 she is frustrated with the Fort Zumwalt School District after she claims her children have been coming home from school with signs of heat exhaustion.

Gonner said the problem is not a lack of air conditioning at Dubray Middle School, but a lack of cool air on the bus ride home.

“If you’re going to say that your kids shouldn’t be allowed to sit in the car for a minute while you do whatever, why are we letting them sit for 40 minutes on a bus,” Gonner said.

Superintendent Dr. Bernard Dubray said he found no temperature problems at Dubray Middle School. However, Dubray said not much can be down about conditions on the bus.

“There’s not a whole lot you can do there,” Dubray said. “You can allow the kids to bring water on there, you can make sure all the windows are open. Those buses move most of the time so there is some air flow going.”

Dubray also addressed concerns over a $15 million bond that voters approved. He said part of that money went to air conditioning improvements. Despite his comments, Gonner said she wants to see more.

“Yeah, it’ll go away next week. It’ll probably be better but it shouldn’t even be an issue this week or at all,” Gonner said.
