(KMOV.com) – The O’Fallon, Mo. Police Department said it needs more room to store evidence.
O’Fallon police told News 4 they need more room for personnel, equipment, and office space. Voters rejected a plan to build a new justice center in April, so the department has decided to turn elsewhere.
O’Fallon Casting, a company that makes parts for aerospace companies, is stepping in to help the department store evidence.
“In 2008 we began to digitize and become a paperless company and in doing that we obsoleted all the paper records and had an empty file storage system that we needed to find a home for,” Bruce Wilson with O’Fallon Casting said.
The filing shelves that were used by the company are now being used by O’Fallon police to store evidence. O’Fallon authorities said the new filing system has increased the storage area by 20 percent.
Officials said they may put another measure on the ballot to raise money for a new justice center in the future.
