YPRES, BELGIUM - NOVEMBER 05: Engraving on a gravestone in the Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth war grave cemetery in the world, on November 5 2008 near Ypres, Belguim. The Commonwealth War Grave Commission manages 956 cemeteries in Belguim and France, which bear witness to the heavy human sacrifice made on the Western Front during the First World War (1914-1918) and Second World War (1939-1945). This year, November 11 will be the 90th anniversary of the Armistice signed between the Allies and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities which took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning on November 11 1918 and which ended the conflict that cost the lives of approximately 8 million men.
