(KMOV) – Multiple fire crews responded to a 2nd alarm fire following a reported explosion in a Soulard neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.
St. Louis City Fire Department spokesperson said a call for a possible explosion at a three-story building at Menard and Shenandoah went out shortly after 1 p.m.
According to the building owner, a crew was installing fiber line when the explosion took place. He said a crew may have hit a gas line during the process.
Everyone was able to get out without injury. The building houses an apartment and offices.
Laclede Gas, fire crews and a St. Louis City Bomb and Arson unit are on the scene and assssing the damage. Further details were not immediately known.
Surrounding streets were blocked off as crews worked to contain the fire.
