Photos: Another winter storm hits St. Louis area

(KMOV) – Get ready St. Louis area: the seemingly never-ending winter is bringing more snow to the region today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the northern parts of the News 4 viewing area until 6 a.m. Wednesday. A winter weather advisory has been issued for the southwestern parts until midnight.

Tuesday morning will start with temperatures in the 20’s, and the high for the day is expected to be around 30 degrees.

A little bit of snow hit the St. Louis area early Tuesday morning and is projected to pick back up in the afternoon into the evening, making for a messy rush hour commute. The heavier stuff will arrive in the afternoon, according to Ehrhardt.

Ehrhardt said total daytime accumulation in the St. Louis Metro area will be between 2 and 4 inches. The metro area is expected to get another 1 to 2 inches Tuesday night before tapering off to scattered snow showers and freezing drizzle.

Ehrhardt said the northern sections of the area could get up to 8 inches, while the southern parts will get between 2 and 4 inches, mixing in some sleet.

Wednesday is expected to see temps in the 20s and flurris are possible. Thursday’s high is projected to be in the teens.
